The Tampa Bay Collard Green Festival is an annual celebration of a vegetable that’s a Southern favorite.
The free event takes place on Saturday, Feb. 17, from 9 a.m. to 5 p. m. at the Woodson African American Museum of Florida at 2240 9th Ave. S. According to the museum’s website, the festival focuses on education in food consumption and agriculture science.
Here you will find a farmer’s market, vendors and lots of soul food. There is a free taste tent and fitness demos.
There will be painters and performers sharing their creativity throughout the festival. A collard green cooking contest with prizes should bring out some great cooks. Be sure to stop by the festival and give your taste buds a treat.
