What could be better than bags of bright colors staining all your clothes, your hair, and your skin?
That’s what nearly 30 scholars did during sixth and seventh period during the Color Run, a fundraiser where scholars collect donations to be doused with food-grade colored cornstarch while running along a course in the field behind the school.
Every student who raised money was able to participate. Scholars collected more than $3,000 in donations to help JHop.
JHop instructional staff developer Dominique Dudley played a big part in setting up and getting volunteers for the run.
“As you know, schools are non-profit, so this is a good way for us to make money,” she said.
Sixth-grader Cai Drexler was the top donor. She raised $600 and won the chance to cover Principal Brittnee Scott in colors.
“I really like running around and throwing color on people, so this was a pretty fun day for me,” Drexler said.
The event organizer Amy Christensen works for a company called Earn and Learn, a company that hosts fundraisers.
“A color run is [about] getting dirty,” she said. “You get out of class, you have a lot of fun, and you can get yourself dirty and other people dirty.”
