They’re banned on campus.
There’s even a state law against them.
And still, scholars continue to use cell phones in their classes.
Teachers say they see students on phones in class, and they do not like it.
“Yes, I got a little irritated when the phones are taken out,” science teacher Donald Jackson said.
Some teachers say they allow scholars to use their phones in class, but it leads to students taking it for granted.
“I let people use them for [the online educational game] Blookets; however, it ends up opening a box that’s hard to close,” said history teacher Crystal Robinson-Fisher.
Scholars are not being productive when they are on their phone in class, said sixth-grader Landon Callison.
“[They are] probably watching YouTube or playing Geometry Dash,” he said.
A report by Auburn University said a phone ban had a positive impact on a high school outside Birmingham, Ala.
Some scholars say not having a phone can be a plus.
“Not having a phone has affected me positively because I don’t doom scroll,” said sixth-grader Jack Manning.
