The JHop theater is getting a new look and new technology.
Over the winter break and continuing through this summer, workers are improving the experience for actors and visitors. This is the theater’s first renovation since opening in 1998.
Workers installed new carpet, wood flooring, and adjusted the lighting and sound. New lighting and sound equipment will be installed during summer break, said theater teacher Samuel Walker.
“I think the renovations make the theater look brighter and gives a fresh take,” he said. “So, I’m excited to see with what the floors look like with the new chairs, and how it will give balance to the theater.”
JHop theater students said they are happy with the upgrades.
“I think the theater renovations are going to look amazing, and I am so excited to see the theater after it is redone,” sixth-grader Alyssa Ward said.
Sixth-grader Scarlet Keller concurred.
“The rug was really dirty before so I’m really happy it got changed, she said.
Emma Drencheva, a sixth-grader, said she’s excited about the new microphones.
“We have been working with microphones near the front of the stage, and you can hear yourself much clearer now,” she said. “I can’t wait to see the rest after summer is over.”
