Trojans are chiming in on controversy involving the popular gaming platform Roblox.
Roblox is a gaming platform where users can create their own games and share them with the public. Creators can also earn money if their games become popular. One example is Grow a Garden, which has broken records multiple times, generating significant income for its creator.
A well-known player, YouTuber Schlep, was banned from the game during the summer after Roblox said he violated its policies by not reporting adults inappropriately using the platform directly to the company and instead going to law enforcement.
The ban has sparked widespread backlash. Many YouTubers and fans have rallied behind Schlep, using the phrase “Free Schlep.” YouTube lawyers, including LawByMike, have indicated they will assist Schlep in suing Roblox.
Eighth-grader Banyan Stabins said safety on Roblox is a concern, especially for younger players.
“I feel safe on the platform, but it’s dangerous for younger kids,” Stabins said.
He added that safety concerns have caused him to play less and that he does not believe Schlep should have been banned.
Stabins said Roblox could recover if it addresses these safety issues.
Eighth-grader Henry Siebold said that he plays Roblox, but the safety issues have caused him to stop spending Robux to purchase in-game items.
“Roblox is handling them poorly, and they should have done something else to combat them,” Siebold said.
