Audiences at the annual piano concert were treated to JHop students and parents enjoyed the sounds of the piano at the winter-themed Frosted Keys recital on Dec. 8.
The Frosted Keys concert highlighted the hard work of the piano students. A total of 31 students performed 18 songs featuring a variety of holiday themes.
Piano teacher Ana Torres hosted the concert and said she was proud of her students for performing in front of an audience.
“It takes a lot to get on that stage, and the fact that they did it is really great.” Torres said. I’m so proud of them.”
Eighth-grader Jacob Gould said the group performance took time to prepare during school but came together in the end.
“It’s fun,” Gould said. “It gets chaotic as a group, but I liked it.”
The concert featured more than piano performances. Eighth-grader Teagan Steindle played “I Write Sins Not Tragedies” by the rock band Panic at the Disco and was accompanied by eighth grader Spencer Anderson on vocals.
“I’ve recently been getting really into Panic at the Disco since their new live album came out,” Steindle said. “It’s just really cool to play it.”
The final performance was eighth-grader Jagger Plaxton’s rendition of “Sparkle – Kimi no Na wa,” composed by Japanese rock band RADWIMPS. He said he wanted to perform the piece last year but found it too complex. After months of preparation, Plaxton debuted the song this season.
“I barely got it,” Plaxton said.” I was concert-ready three days ago.”
