The popular phrase six seven is now word of the year, according to Dictionary.com.
In its explanation, Dictionary.com said six seven was selected as word of the year after its lexicographers – people who compile dictionaries – analyzed data and chartered its rise in search results.
The trend started in December 2024 after the release of rap song “Doot Doot” by Skrilla but gained momentum when Taylen Kinney scored 67 points in a Rod Wave Elite basketball game.
It’s since seen viral popularity on TikTok with the “Doot Doot” song featuring basketball players whose heights are 6-foot-7.
Six seven doesn’t have an actual meaning, but it can be a funny way to express confusion or excitement.
Although six seven is popular, Bri’najah Humphrey said she thinks it’s overused.
“Sometimes it can be funny and sometimes it can be annoying because some people say it too much,” she said.
