Chorus scholars at JHop and Thurgood Marshall middle schools and Gibbs High School recently got the chance to team up for a showstopping concert.
Gibbs hosted a collaborative chorus with in its newly renovated auditorium with new lighting.
JHop performs yearly in the collaborative chorus but last year’s show was canceled because of the hurricanes, making this year’s show significant, said JHop chorus teacher Ana Torres.
The chorus concert gives JHop choir students a chance to explore continuing their music education at Gibbs, she said.
The song selection included “Carry the Light” and “I’m On My Way”. The last song has a heavy backstory that references slavery.
It was included because it has an important uplift, Ms. Torres said.
