The federal government shutdown has led to restaurants offering free meals for families.

Free Meals

The Violet Stone Pizzeria

Starting Nov. 1, families can order the “Shutdown Special” at the pizza place at 2607 MLK St. N and get a free meal.

The pickup window will be between 4 p.m. to 5 p.m. daily.

Burger Monger

Burger Monger at multiple locations is offering free to-go lunch for kids. Burger Monger locations are giving away free-to-go bagged lunch for each child present with no purchase required. Staff said they will be offering this every day until SNAP benefits are reinstated.

We Help Fresh Pantry

Any Pinellas County resident is eligible to receive free groceries twice a month. Pantry is open 8:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. Mondays and Wednesday and 8:30 a.m. until 7 p.m. on Tuesdays and Thursdays. The pantry is located at 863 3rd Ave. N in St. Petersburg.

The Pantry will host a turkey distribution from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Thursday, Nov 13 and handout food from 8 a.m. to noon Saturday, Nov. 22.
