Not only are there new students and principals here at JHop, but there are also new teachers and reporters here at the Morning Show recently caught up with two of them.
Ms. Orli Barker and Ms. Alexia Singletary have joined the faculty for the 2025-2026 school year.
Ms. Barker teaches sixth and seventh grade math while Ms. Singletary teaches sixth grade English/Language Arts. This is Ms. Barker’s ninth year teaching and Ms. Singletary’s sixth year.
Ms. Barker previously taught at Seminole and Meadowlawn middle schools.
Ms. Singletary comes to JHop from Sanderlin Elementary where she taught fifth grade. She said she has many goals for her students in her “Wild about ELA”- designed classroom. She said she wants her students to be engaged in their learning and use critical thinking skills.
When asked about her impressions of JHop, Ms. Singletary said she likes seeing all the magnet programs working together.
“I think I have the awesome opportunity to start my time at JHop,” she said.
Ms. Barker said she really likes the fact that everyone wears uniforms and is very excited for the house competitions.
Other new instructors include theatre teacher, Mr. Walker.
