The Tampa Bay Buccaneers beat the Philadelphia Eagles 32-9 on Jan. 15 and are heading to the NFC Divisional Round against the Detroit Lions on Sunday in Detroit.
Quarterback Baker Mayfield proved that the Bucs are the underdog in the playoffs. Before Sunday’s game, the Eagles were favored to win. Not only was the win great, but the Bucs are also the only team to stop the “tush push” that the Eagles like to run when they are on the one-yard line. Mayfield did so well that three passing touchdowns, 337 passing yards and a passer rating of 119.8 broke the Bucs’ franchise record in a playoff game and third in NFL history. Rookie Trey Palmer, David Moore and Chris Godwin each caught a touchdown pass. The defense sacked Eagles quarterback Jalen Hurts three times and made clutch tackles.
The Bucs travel to Detroit to take on the Lions, who beat the Bucs earlier in the season 20-6 when the Bucs offense could not score a touchdown. The Bucs are 9-31 all-time in cold-weather games. The Weather Channel predicts the temperature to be a high of 25 degrees on Sunday. Gametime at Ford Field is 3 p.m. and will be streamed on NBC, YouTube TV, Fubo and NFL+.
