Got a Sprayground bookbag? Then you need to know that John Hopkins now has a policy regarding the tags.
According to Principal Scott, scholars can only have one tag per bag.
The policy was established to prevent theft of tags, she said.
Sprayground bookbags are a popular brand because of their unique and bold designs. They come with special tags that are golden and red and are the size of a dollar bill. These bags range from $65-$500 depending on the bag and the design.
Some tags have been taken from bags. Students may believe that collecting 10 tags will earn them a free bag, but that is not true, Ms. Scott said.
Thankfully there have been few reports of tag theft. Scholars who have more than one tag on their bag will face consequences, Ms. Scott said.
“We simply confiscate it and bring it to the grade level office where you can pick it up by the end of the day,” she said.
Ms. Scott hopes the policy will boost school morale.
“Students also feel safe on our campus knowing that they can have their tag on their bag and it’s not in jeopardy of being taken my someone, so hopefully getting morale back to focus on academics,” she said.
Eighth grader Zayveon Evans, who owns a Sprayground bag, said he supports efforts to prevent tag theft.
“This new policy makes me feel better knowing that I can bring my tag without getting it stolen from me,” he said.
