Administrators say a series of issues with school laptops mostly has been fixed.
Some scholars experienced delays getting their laptops at the start of the school year. The reasons included some permission forms not submitted. But the biggest reason was most of the laptops weren’t re-imaged – or reset – on time, said media specialist Ms. Ball.
Ninety-one scholars are still left with missing laptops.
Laptops are reset every summer by district technicians for the next group of middle school students. This includes examining the laptops for external damage as well as resetting program applications.
By August, about 500 laptops were still awaiting re-imaging thanks to a personnel shortage, Ms. Ball said.
Additionally, some scholars did not get a laptop because their parents hadn’t signed the permission slip on FOCUS. Ms. Ball said she is reaching out to those parents.
“Parent permission is supposed to be done on FOCUS online,” she said
Ms. Ball said about 91 students do not have school laptops mostly due to parents not signing permission via focus. Her next step is to reach out to those students and get the forms.
“Those students, they’re going to get those this week,” she said. “I’m going to start going to lunches this Tuesday and Thursday to start trying to find those kids.”
