If you have an idea for a game but don’t know where to start, there’s a club for you here at John Hopkins.
The Arts Conservatory for Teens, also known as ACT, hosts a game coding club every Wednesday morning from 8:30 a.m. to 9:30 a.m. in Mr. Butler’s class.
Noah Grega is the club instructor. He said he wanted to inspire students to learn how to code at a young age to help them in the future.
Creating a game is easier than ever with programs like Unity, ClickTeam, Gamemaker, Steam, Unreal Engine, Scratch, and Blender.
Scratch is very beginner friendly and can help with advancing to other programs.
Sixth-grader Kieran Brown said he attends the club to get better at coding.
Kieran said he uses a variety of programs to create games including Python and Scratch. He recommends learning one program language like Python and sticking to it.
“It’s pretty simple,” he said.
Kieran said he’s currently trying to learn Roblox.
