A group of JHop scholars united in their appreciation of music to form a band called Iridium.
Its members are guitarist Sullly Suits, singer Sagan Lewis, and drummer Raleigh Martin.
They perform rock music in places such as schools, warehouses, and other community venues.
The band often plays at Noise Makers, a warehouse turned into a space dedicated to music and its culture. It’s at 2626 Emerson Ave. S in St. Pete.
“My inspiration was from loving music but not being able to find the right music,” said Sagan, who created the band in 2022.
The band’s name is inspired by the metal iridium. It first considered playing metal music but switched to rock. They liked the name, so they kept it.
Seventh grader Raelyn Rocco says she thinks it’s cool to have a rock band on campus.
“Scholars get to learn and gain experience.”
