Attention, Tampa Bay: Red Bull bringing its Flugtag competition to the area this weekend.
The event is a contest featuring teams and their creative, homemade flying machines. Teams of five are made up of one pilot and four ground members. There will be 34 teams participating this year. Teams are judged on creativity and airmanship based on a plane skit they created prior to the event.
Among the teams participating are Tampa Bay Rays, Tampa Baysic, University of Tampa Flying Spartan, and Changes in Altitude. For a full list of teams, go to www.tampabaysports.org.
More than 100,000 people are expected to gather at the Tampa Convention center on Saturday, Nov. 9, to see this event which is held annually around the world.
The event starts at noon and aircrafts will take flight at 1 p.m.
Attendees can bring camera equipment, binoculars and water bottles. Drones, food, pets, tents, and glass are not permitted.
