Halloween is just around the corner and the big question of “Who will you be?” is being asked. In a survey taken on the John Hopkins campus, the top five costumes for 2024 in order of popularity are Glinda from “Wicked,” Beetlejuice, Fallout video game, Wednesday Addams, and Ghostbusters.
“Wicked” is a take on “The Wizard of Oz.” It was a big Broadway show and is becoming a movie opening Nov. 22. Everyone wants to be Glinda the Good Witch because Ariana Grande plays that role in the movie.
Beetlejuice is the main character in a movie of the same name. A sequel came out on Sept. 6. Those in the survey think it will be a great costume because he’s scary.
The Fallout is the third most popular costume. It’s from a video game that is now being made into a TV series. People are dressing up as the prewar civilians.
A second season of the “Wednesday” TV series is coming out. This is probably one of the easier costumes because her look is so simple and iconic: a black dress and long braids.
Finally, in the fifth spot is Ghostbusters. This is a great costume for a group of friends.
Forty-six scholars responded to the survey. The top categories of movie character and scary figure were tied at 12 votes.
