Recently, a group of Spartans from Lakewood High School came to show the Trojans at John Hopkins what they’ve got!
The visit was the latest in series from Pinellas high schools, part of an effort to encourage JHop students to attend Lakewood.
Lakewood pulled out all the stops, with performances from the school’s band and presentation from the music and journalism programs.
JHop’s orchestra, band, and keyboard classes got special showcases from the Lakewood marching band including performances from the percussion section, played guitar, and keyboard. Students who want to study music theory can take an AP-level class in the subject.
Lakewood journalism students also shared their experiences, talking about their favorite parts of the program and its pathway. For example, if you like sports and photography, you can study sports photography. If you like writing and music, you review albums. Students also can work on projects of their choosing with teachers guiding them.
Sixth-grader Ophelia Petrucelli liked the band’s performance.
“It was amazing, and I’ve never seen anything like it,” she said.
