To those interested in airplanes, flight, and more, you may want to put this cool summer camp on your calendar!
Registration is now open for the Albert Whitted Airport Preservation Society’s annual summer flight school beginning June 3. Campers will learn about the history of aviation and types of planes, jobs, and careers in aviation. They will hear guest speakers, go on field trips, and fly on a genuine aircraft.
This camp is not just for young people who want to be pilots, said Terri Griner, the society’s president.
Young people interested in the field of aviation, which concludes air traffic control, or mechanics, also can attend, Griner said.
The camp will run June 3-7 for ages 9 through 10 and June 17-21 for ages 11 through 12 between 9 am to 3 pm.
Cost is $450 but space may be limited. For more info, go to www.awaps.org, call 727-822-1532, or email [email protected].
